The Center of Arrhythmia, originally known as the First Section of Cardiology, is a branch of the Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital and was founded in the year of 1989. The center has been well known for its excellent medical service in cardiovascular medicine in South China. Meanwhile, it serves as the training base for interventional cardiologists, especially in the field of arrhythmia.

Faculty

Currently, there are 34 staff members in the center, including 9 doctors, 25 nurses. There are 3 chief physicians, 4 associate chief physicians, and 2 attending physicians, among which 2 are doctoral supervisors and 3 are master supervisors.

Medical Services

With 55 beds, the center serves more than 3500 patients with cardiovascular diseases every year. More than 2000 cardiovascular interventional operations are performed annually. The center is also equipped with a variety of medical equipment such as heart monitoring system, defibrillator, BiPAP machines and point-of-care testing machines, etc.

Specialty

The center is famous for its high quality medical services in the diagnosis and interventional treatment for arrhythmia, including premature contraction, atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, atrioventricular block, sick sinus syndrome, etc. The center is also famous for diagnosis and treatment for rare arrhythmia associated cardiomyopathies, for example, ion channelopathy and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.

Medical Education

The center is one of the best clinical training bases for cardiologists. Hundreds of interventional cardiologists take training courses and get qualifications for Interventional Cardiology each year. The center is also a main base for national continuing medical education in South China, and offers clinical training programs for doctors and other health professionals from all over the world. More than 50 medical workers receive their continuing medical training in the center each year.
